We attended the Endeavor Gala here in Uruguay in September! Rafael and I loved connecting to such an amazing and inspiring group of people! #EndeavorGala @endeavoruy
Atlántida, Uruguay exploration - August 2025
Atlántida is a popular family beach resort near Montevideo on Uruguay's "Costa de Oro" (Gold Coast), known for its wide pine-lined beaches, charming early-20th-century architecture, and notable sites like the UNESCO-listed Cristo Obrero Church by Eladio Dieste. It offers a blend of natural beauty and city amenities, serving as a relaxed destination for both families and tourists.

Potomac yard bunny bonanza

Fun was had by kids and their parents at the Potomac Yard Bunny Bonanza on March 24 with an egg hunt, firetruck display and a animal farm - petting zoo.  Always a pleasure to organize this with my fellow neighbors and friends each year.

Continuing the 7-11 Free Slurpee tradition

Remember to swing by your closest 7-Eleven to pick up your free Slurpee today!  It's an annual tradition with my son to stop by our Braddock Road 7-Eleven to choose our Slurpee flavor!  Due to the volume of people stopping by. they had to have a person working the  Slurpee machine and asking what flavor each person wanted so it didn't get backed up.  We still had to go through the cash register to check out, even if it was free. Thanks 7-Eleven for making such a fun activity for people around the country!

Launch of Alaska leaders archive

AlI was very proud and excited  to be among fellow Alaskans in Washington DC to launch the Alaska Leaders Archive of the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) together with the Ted Stevens Foundation in April 2023. The event was organized by the Alaska State Society in DC.  It was also very special to meet the newest US Representative Mary Peltola (she is so nice and down to earth!) and the first Alaska Native in Congress. Contributing my piece to honoring the stories of our past Alaskan leaders, here is a link to the radio interviews I did many years ago for my show ‘The Alaska Identify Project’ on KTOO radio in Juneau with many diverse Alaskan voices of leadership -

Meeting the new UNC-Wilmington Chancellor, Dr. Aswani K. Volety

Picture
Meeting the new UNC-Wilmington Chancellor, Dr. Aswani K. Volety, in early March in D.C. as they came to town to cheer on the men’s basketball team competing in the CAA tournament this week. I took advantage of our time to chat about the importance of continuing to connect UNCW students with the global community through study abroad and professional opportunities after college, such as in my field of #internationaldevelopment at the #IDB. He will provide important leadership for my #almamater in this area and we welcome his vision for taking #UNCW to the next level.

Community Trash clean ups

Once a month we are trying to clean up the trash that accumulates on the beach area of Windmill Hill Park in Alexandria as a way for kids to learn about volunteerism and their civic responsibility, as well as connect with other members of our Waldorf school community.

Shout out to KidCreate studio for still requiring masks

Picture
KidCreate studio in Alexandria, VA still requires masking for all kids and adults using their space for a class. I admire their persistence to stick to their values and provide a safe space for children. I applaud these businesses and those who still believe in protecting our community and those most at risk during a pandemic of an airborne illness.  I reached out to the owner to tell her how much I appreciated the masking requirement and she said they are getting mixed feedback from parents who no longer have this in their routine.

Del Ray Farmer's Market

Exploring the Del Ray Farmer's Market after a hiatus for a couple of years and realized they shut down a street for pedestrians.  I looked for the Cold Country Salmon vendor and he was still available selling the black cod we love so much (among many other products)! @DelRayFarmMkt   https://delrayfarmersmarket.com/
