Tribute to dan brewington - i love chile radio
I was shocked earlier this week when I learned that Dan Brewington had passed away in late 2022, at least from our physical dimension. The world has lost one of the brightest lights and more caring souls. Dan is the reason I started doing radio in Santiago, Chile in 2009. A year before we had all come together as Americans Abroad in Chile for the historic election of President Obama and then he convinced me to have a radio show in his Santiago Radio studios (later called I LOVE CHILE Radio) called the A-LO Show that was aired once a week through the internet. People from around the world would listen as I interviewed different types of "movers and shakers" in Chile in English. That was what Dan was doing - radio, tv and journalism in English - so that people knew what was happening in Chile. He was always the optimist and a friend to everyone, especially in the expat community that we had of people living so far away from home. We were all family and I appreciate him and his family (Pam and the kids) taking us all under their wings through the radio, as well as so many other activities. After I left Chile and moved home to Alaska for a little while, I continued to do radio on the side through KTOO news in Juneau. I credit Dan with the inspiration to continue to do these types of projects, that proactive attitude to start something new... and I grieve his loss and that energy that we were all so inspired by for so many years living in Santiago. Thanks for your light that shone so bright in this world - Rest in peace, Dan.
